Microsoft publicly introduced Windows 7 to the world on October 22. It is the "follow-on" software release to Windows VISTA, which was ignored by much of the PC community worldwide. Windows 7 addresses many of the shortcomings of VISTA (requires less hardware, less annoying pop-up messages, better driver support, etc.), and coupled with the fact that mainstream support for Windows XP ended in April 2009, expectations are that Windows 7 will be widely adopted.
The question is:
- Was the tepid market response to Windows VISTA a result of technical flaws in the product?
